General information

Pazo de Altamira is a small charming hotel perfect to enjoy life at the old town of Santiago, located in front of the local marketplace (Plaza de Abastos) and only 400m away from the cathedral and one km distance from the train station. Built over the old Pazo de Altamira, the building has been restored with a functional and contemporary style.

A three star hotel distinguished with the highest standards of Spanish government regarding excellence in tourism: Q of Touristic Quality. It is perfect to rest and enjoy a stay with all the conveniences, a pleasant treatment and an ideal location to explore the life of Compostela. Enjoy rooms with broad views from balconies and galleries that face towards the West of Santiago, over the rooftops of the city and with Mount Gaias as a wide background.

The restaurant of the hotel offers the opportunity to submerge oneself in the local life and taste Galician culture and gastronomy with an updated interpretation. The hotel has an agreement with a nearby parking lot, it is accessible to people suffering from reduced mobility and it provides services such as wake-up call, laundry and press.

The establishment has characteristics that give an added value and that differentiates it from standard tourism.
It is not difficult to imagine what is the environment of the Hotel Pazo de Altamira: it stands in the upper part of the historical centre, and therefore even maybe on the first pre-Roman settlement that occupied that land from which the Libredón forest could be seen twenty centuries ago. It was in the Libredón forest where the body of St. James was found in the 9th century. That environment is brilliantly grey and it is dominated by an ancient granite that has been shaping quite varied buildings: from the neoclassical University to the nearby market, which has become the second most visited place by tourists after the cathedral, of course.
