The Bodeguilla de San Lázaro was inaugurated in 2005 in Santiago de Compostela. It follows the concept and the success of its predecessor the restaurant La Bodeguilla de San Roque. It is a restaurant with a pleasant and familiar atmosphere, located in the heart of the Camino de Santiago, with outdoor terrace, and reserved spaces for meetings or company meals. The Bodeguilla de San Lázaro offers its customers numerous tastings of wines, liqueurs and oils that have just come to market, throughout the year. It has a nearby public car park, located 100 meters from the Palacio de Congresos, and the main exits of the city of Santiago de Compostela. Here you can enjoy all Galician products par excellence, always prepared with simplicity, care, affection and with fine and subtle avant-garde touches. According to the season, it offers the corresponding products (turnip tops in winter, ‘lacón’ in carnival, peppers from Padrón, etc.) and introduces new dishes along with those traditional and more successful ones. It has an immense and care wine cellar, where you can find more than 300 vine references from Galicia, Spain and other countries (Australia, Argentina, California (USA), Chile, France and Portugal). Among the infinite variety of wines, they emphasize all the Galician denominations of origin, with more than 100 references. Each week they suggest new wines for customers to try.
The amount of people who visit Santiago de Compostela is so great that the street which leads to the cathedral was baptized as ‘Preguntoiro’ (that means in Galician language “the place to ask”) a long time ago. Over time, Compostela has created another checkpoint for those pilgrims who come down from ‘Monte do Gozo’; in this occasion it’s a signboard with the name of the village, in which pilgrims usually leave some memories and amulets that accompanied them during the hard days doing “The Way”.
