El Refugio Restaurant opened its doors more than forty years ago. Located in the center of Santa María de Oleiros (A Coruña), with a culinary project based on the quality of the products of the land and the sea, putting them in value, where they should be the protagonists.
Managed from the beginning by Alfredo Castrelo and Ricardo Gonzalez, the place changed, with a reform in 1987, its characteristic terrace by a glazed deck with natural light. In addition, the paintings of Galician painters are hung from their walls accompanied by the noble woods and warm lighting.
The varied menu offers different options of fish that are acquired in the auction in the market of A Coruña as well as seafood. The wine cellar stands out where you can taste up to more than eight hundred references of wines, both national and international, having a prominent place the Galician denominations of origin.
Oleiros town counts with a great natural wealth, in which highlights the ‘Natural Monument Dexo-Serrantes Coast’, protected area recognised as a Site of Community Importance (SCI), where one can enjoy the sea roughness lapping on incredible cliffs. Inside the ‘‘Aula do Mar’’ lighthouse keeper former house which currently turned into an interpretation centre, we can find an intrepretative exposition of the natural values which possesses.
Nothing better to complete this proposal than a restaurant like ‘El Refugio’, of nearly four decades of existence and with a menu that leaves no one indifferent due to the quality of its products and the innovation in all the recipes offered to its diners.
